Electric fan swap on my 7.5l

The old factory radiator cracked on me the other week so I put in a order with Champion Radiator. I went with their 3 core with dual 14" pro series fans, shroud, and thermostat/ relay kit. It was about $475 shipped to my door. For the most part it was as they said and bolted right in. The wiring for the fans is what took the most attention. So everything seems to be working as it should and it keeps the truck really nice and cool. I ran the truck 35 miles to the office today running her about 80mph and she stayed good and I also had her sitting in the parking lot with the AC running the other day while my 2 year old was asleep and didn't even bother it. So if your look for a replacement or wanting to upgrade I'd say this is a good choose IMO.

Now with that said... It does feel like the truck is now starving for fuel when you really lay into the gas and or it's getting to much. I just noticed it today. I don't know why doing a radiator swap would have any effect on this but if you have any thoughts please give me your 2 cents. I did have the battery unplugged for a few days not sure why that would have any effects either. The only thing wiring wise is with the thermostat relay where we wired in a relay, tapped into a ignition source, and added a different thermostat housing.

Here is some pics of the process.

That's all well and good but what we really want to know is.....................What's under the hood of that stang?!

I converted to electric fans too,in one of my diesel trucks.I used one of those dual electric engine fans from a ford windstar. You can get them used on ebay like I did or find them in a salvage yard. They work great, the last well and can really save some money.I've had mine in for a few years now.I like that clean looking setup though.

lol... The 67 has a very well built 302 in it all forged internals with a mild street cam. She runs very well. The red 07 is a bolt on car with 100 shot and the blue one is a friends car.

Glad to hear you are still happy with your electric fan set up. I've heard a few people not happy with them when it comes to towing.

Wow, I love that 67! My very first car was a 65 with straight 6, and then I bought a champagne-gold color with factory mags wheels and it had a 289 Hi-Po. My dad had 2 641/2' verts, he caught me drag racing it one night. That didn't go over very well. LOL! That was in the late 70's. So, I have a 96 F-350 4X4 SRW long bed std cab with C-6 and Gear-Vendor w/460. I got one of the Champion 4-core radiators with the aluminum shroud and still have to pick up 2 12-inch fans. I'm also going to use the Summit or Jegs Flex Stainless Red and blue radiator hose or pipe whatever it's called, it's late and gotta go to bed. LOL!. I got the BBK Twin 61mm throttle body BBK-3502. Haven't put it on yet, just doing some different mods like that. I'm looking forward to getting that new radiator into my truck! LOL! Good luck on it!

I got a chance to work the cooling system really good yesterday. We where working out of the OBS most of the day and running the power inverter so we where in the truck while it was running with the AC on. The electric fans did great. They keep the truck running cool and the AC was nice and cold all day also. When we did get to move from one site to the other it was all washed out dirt roads so we never really go over 25-35mph. I'm really pleased on how the new system held up and it's always fun getting to do a little wheeling in the old girl.
