I have a Thompson Center 50 caliber percussion that I built from a kit back in the late 1970's. It is much more accurate than I am with these old eyes. I shoot a patched .490 round ball ahead of 80 grains of black powder. It is quite accurate. It shoots a little high at 50 yards and to point of aim at 100.
So far so good, had a sprinkle of rain, sky can't seem to make up it's mind what it feels like doing so far today. Started out red and grey now it seems to be clearing, time will tell but I'll be in the shop anyways.
I wish I was in the shop! Have to wait until tonight. Hot and humid here today. I have to start on patching the doors. Hoping to get them in primer next week.
I picked up the rest of my parts for the rear diff yesterday so now have new brakes a on all four corners, going to paint the calipers before installing them though. The guy told me that these 8.8 diffs require synthetic gear lube and that sure was pricey at $25 / liter.
I wish I had set up the pinion angle before I dismantled everything for sandblasting and painting so the spring perches could have been welded, just a little too much in a hurry I guess, so paint on the diff will have to wait.
