Ok guys I am truly at a lost with my 67 F100. The engine is a 302 with an Edelbrock Carb. The trucks idles fine. But the second its given gas near 2500 rpm, it acts like the engine is about to jump out of the truck. Seems as if a few of the cylinders are mis-firing. Here are some of the things we did to troubleshoot. Adjusted valves, set timing, totally disassembled and cleaned the carb, changed all spark plug wires and plugs, then verified that all plugs are firing, verified fuel flow, changed distributor cap, points and condenser. NONE of these things made any different whatsoever. Where do I go from here? I have no clue what to check next to line this thing out?
Have you tried driving it witha vacuum gauge hooked up? I'll bet your stumble is right about where the metering rods raise up to enrichen the mixture. Some heavier springs under the metering rod pistons might do the trick.

actually I have not tried that. after I posted this I went to two local carb specialists. BOTH of them said that they would bet my problem lies with the timing chain. Either the timing chain is stretched or it has jumped timing.
Pull the fuel pump and plugs. Shine a light in the fuel pump hole and watch/inspect the chain and gears as someone turns it over by hand, with a socket on the crank pulley nut. Any damage/slop will be obvious.
