I have swapped many drive-trains from donors to cars/trucks they weren't factory installed in. It can be time consuming and you may have some hair-pulling out days trying to get things to work but strangely that is what I enjoy doing.
Remember Google and car forums are your friends, as believe it or not most swaps have been done before.
Good luck whichever way you go, very fulfilling when it is done and you did it yourself.
I like what sparky said, I think you need to be honest with yourself regarding time, ability, equipment and space when it comes to buying premade kits or adapting used parts to undertake this kind of project. I have a similar project that I have put on the road with less money than most invest in wheels and tires, not suitable for all, but was my goal.
What part of Idaho are you from?

It is always funny how the old threads are usually brought back to life by new users, not bad when asking their own related questions but when offering advice to a dead thread, priceless.

I have a stock 239 and looking to see what mods I need to swap in a carb 302. Looking at mounts obviously. Any reccommendations? Harness was swapped out already with one from SVF to get truck running and driving (bearing noise in trans and slight rock knock) hence why looking to swap
