Exclamation Need help finding a Camper Special Lock

Hello,

I am new to the board and wanted to say Hello. Also to show off my "new" truck. I also had a few questions but the Search Function helped out with most. This is one of them I need help with.

I just purchased a 1979 F-250 Camper Special. It looks like the previous owner sold the truck to someone who did work on it, repainted it and then sold it to me.

The Small Tool Box on the Passenger side of the Bed is currently Unlocked and whomever painted it painted over the lock. Also they neglected to give me a key for it. I have checked a few restoration type sites like LMC and have not found a replacement Lock/Key set.

Are there any companies that provide this type of replacement?

Thank You
Ivan

That was not just available on Camper Specials.
The toolbox was available on '64-'79 regular size bed stylesides F-100s, through F-350s.
Although, that being said, it did appear to be a common option on Camper Specials and Hi-Boys.
You should be able to have a lock smith cut you a key for cheaper than it would be to buy a new lock set.

The handle and lock assembly comes apart very easy. The lock looks to me like a new replacement would be an easy find if you can not get the old one "keyed."

Thank you for the replies. The reason I was looking for a whole new lock assembly, now with the latch, is the old one was painted over. Not only would I need a new key but would also need to strip the paint off of the old one. Also I am not sure how much paint made it into the key hole.

Mike,

Thank you for the information, I will give them a call on Monday.
