Newer bench seat for 56 f-100
Hello everyone,
Great forum, I am a new member but have been following your forum for a few months now and learning a lot. There is a wealth of good information between all of you in the forum (or so some of you think any how)
I am semi retired because of heart health issues and have building my dream 56 F-100 for 5 years now. It started with a frame and cab only from a fellows yard that had sat for years who had started it then abandoned it when he lost interest. He had already fixed the cab corners and drivers side floor rust areas and that was the extent of the rust other than a few other minor surface rust spots.
Since then I have purchased everyhing for the truck piece by piece and had all the body parts painted individually, and have all the parts in my 24 ft by 28 ft shop which I built just for my truck and ready to assemble. But of course I have to get my sons car out of there first which I had to rebuild a motor for him in the mean time.
Now after all the dribble to my main question can anyone tell me what seats, bench style from newer vehicles will fit in my truck so I son't have to go measure everyting out there for weeks on end to find the right one. I want something comfortable for long cruises, as I have a bad back after 35 years of working in construction.
Thank you, and I look forward to many great visits to this forum.
Kevin
P.S. as soon as I figure out how I will figure out how to post some photos I will put some up of my progress so far.

Hello and welcome. A standard seat used used for years in a 53-56 F100 Was the 88-94 Chevy/GMC Truck Bench seat. Here is an install article

If you scroll about halfway down the page on this article you will find more seat info.

Working in a salvage yard part time I am finding the 88-94 GM Seats harder to find in good to great. At this point when most come in they have been worked hard and have the foam showing along with obvious fabric being tore. Best of luck to you in your pursuits

My 53 has buckets right now with head rests. I want to put a bench in but I like the head rests, will protect the back of your head if you get rearended. What seat out there will fit that has head rests? Thank you perks56 for this question about seats. Welcome to the site. Give us some pictures

I don't see why not as the Tahoe is basically the same. My chevy pickup has very nice buckets and wouldn't mind haveing a set for my panel they are very comfortable. THe 60/40 is another very good option and comfy as well and probably more suited to a regular cab. What I don't care for about a bench seat is if you are the passenger and the driver is a short legged ( you fill in the blank) your knees end up rubbing the dash.

I didn't construct rails to mount it to so no but it was certainly possible. By default they are mounted on 4 bolts fixed in the back seat of the explorer and they tilt to allow access to the third row. We built a tube steel structure and made it bolt to the stock seat locations. They fit great.
