Would you like to hear my auto insurance tale of woe?
Allstate customer for 30 years or so, so long I don't even know how long. I know they cost me extra, but the service has always been top notch when we had a claim.
Just got the renewal proposal. $2,500 for 6 months! No new vehicles, citations, or accidents since the last term. But that is about a $1k annual increase. To hell with company loyalty.
Looks like Farmers can do this for about $1,400/6 months. AAA would be about $1,500. State Farm was highest at $1800, but to be fair I didn't give them a chance to polish it.
Those were 2-1/2 years ago. Will be 3 years in December. So they are on there on all the quotes I got and have been on the Allstate policy for some time.
I have one at-fault too. They count the time when I scraped the travel trailer on a tree limb back in '09 as an at-fault. Even reported it to DMV. That really blows. I should have just paid to fix it myself.
2011 F150 Stupor Crew = 21st Century Insurance: $1050.00 per year for full coverage inc. un-insured motorist, $500.00 deductible. No ticket since 1982, no accident since 1962.
But, this is based on 5,000 miles per year. So...for everyone else that drives more than 5K the rate will prolly be higher.
The Allstate commercial that's runnin' on almost every TV channel known to man, sez they reward good drivers.
Your Allstate agent must be Ben Dover!
btw: Owning so many piles of misery over the years, I've found that Farmers and State Farm are the highest.
I could get even a lower rate from SoCal Auto Club, but would have to combine car insurance with home owner insurance.
Bill, dunno if you are aware, but the Auto Club has moved to Whittier Blvd., a coupla miles east of Colima (across the street from Lens Crafters).
Im paying about $2500 a year. Granted im 18 and I have one accident (which in my opinion shouldnt count.. I backed my moms car into a pole. Cost $1500 to fix cause its a BMW..)

Yes, it's been quite a few years now. I have their roadside assistance service. I was close to going with AAA, because their policy terms are 1 year. Most others are 6 month terms.
Trey, the biggest cost of auto insurance is the liability coverage. Minimum is 10k/30k I think. I carry 100k/300k, and that costs more.
Insurance cost an arm and a leg on all those newer ugly rolling piles of plastic...
Yet another reason I stay away from newer vehicles...
However, if you are 25 or younger your insurance is high anyways...
Commercial truck insurance is even more...(Trust me...)
I don't know about other companies, but I'm pretty sure Allstate rates are going up a lot. I had heard just a few weeks ago that Allstate homeowners policys were going up because even though home values are down, the costs to rebuild are going up. Probably fuel related.
I have Allstate homeowners insurance. That's going to change too. Allstate no longer writes new homeowners policies in CA. They haven't in some years. Only renewals.
Allstate writes mortgages, and I suspect they have been hurt like all other lenders. The bottom line probably isn't what it needs to be.
