I don't think a coolant flush will do a thing for tranny temps. Lots of people running two coolers so that itself is not a factor.

Heavy Duty Transmission Cooler NEW!!!

That is pretty close to the same one I added to my V10. I am not overly impressed, but I have way more stock cooling than you, so who knows.

Did you add that inline with your stock cooler Lee or replace the stock one?

Did not read far enough the first time Jay.

If you already have the V10 cooler like mine, than with that Hayden I saw 10-15 deg drop towing. Now I never saw a reading much over 120 over outside air temp with the stock unless in the mountains. I would sit at about 170 with an outside air of 80, and that is while towing the 5er. Over the mountain passes I did see 225 deg in 60 deg air, but that was a 10-12% grade for 6 miles and I was running in low gear and rpm at 3500, but it did help it cool off quicker once I started to descend the other side.

I was not overly impressed, but my camper is heavier than yours and I have than lowly gas engine.

It is inline in the very front of the radiator. I think mine was only $45 at OReilly last year, so maybe this is bigger. Wait, can I post that?

We are talking transmission, right?

It is the metal tube that goes on the outside of the transmission and has a bypass in it to bypass fluid back to the tranny if the cooler is plugged.

Haha Lee that is good. I needed that.

Ok Chris I understand now. Bypass line is what I think it's called. I know there is a method for testing it but I have not done that. I should do that first before throwing money and parts at it I guess.

The one thing that I disliked about having added it is it takes forever for the trans to heat up when really cold. I hardly drive it in the winter so it is not a huge deal.

I installed mine like Dave told me too, so If I remember correct it goes through the stock V10 cooler first than into the Hayden.

I think I will take both of mine off, run some cleaner through them and carefully blow them out, and test that bypass. If the bypass is bad I will see about buying the spare that Chris has.

I meant to flush out the trans coolers. Guess I should have clarified that.

Testing them sucks. You will get fluid everywhere. I know we did.

You can certainly try the spare that I've got and see if it fixes your problem.

Sure, make fun of me for so many coolers, but now it makes sense.

I ended up replacing my bypass before my rebuild. It might be worth the try.
