Sounds like your MPLS is bad or out of adjustment. MLPS is on the side of the trans where the cable hooks to it

There was an early and late design. SOmewhwere around 94 they changed. But they dont seel the early design any more. You need to repin your plug to work with the late(upgraded) design

Your `95 should already have the uprated one. If you are looking for one, most parts suppliers list it as the neutral safety switch (NSS).

As LazyK stated most part books refer to it as the Neutral Safety Switch. And 1995 was the first year for the new design MLPS. Should be a Plug-n-Play

Had a similar problem on my 99. Seems one of the bolts that hold the lever on the shifter linkage in the column had come loose and did not allow the cable to move enough. This was after replacing the switch and trying to replace a stretched cable

Good point from talon. Look right at the bottom of the steering column and you should see a little plate with two torx head bolts. These bolts often come loose and need retightened. May be worth a look.

Thank you for the input. A friend stopped by today and he slowly moved the shifter till engine tried to start and was able to get it started. He then looked under and had me move the shifter slowly he was able to push a cable in some so now it will turn over in the park position. I was able to see the red needle move a bit so question now is how can we adjust it so stays where supposed to? Hubby is disabled but luckly he taught me to be a backyard mechanic so can do most basic things with his guidence

Take a look at the bottom of the steering wheel column, there are two Torx bolts that are known to loosen over time.

Here is a photo from our good friend subford aka: Bill

Make sure those are tight.

Under the dash. Nothing is required to be removed.
