The tow/haul mode on a modded dmax with a built allison rocks though! But yeah believe me they aren't cheap trannys to build

I got the joke.

But I think there were some guys pulling the Allys from the 6.0 PSD Internationals and bolting them up to the 7.3 Fords. I could be wrong, but I remember reading about it somewhere.

Anyway, There is an old allison that was used in International trucks, but it is not even an overdrive unit, so it is very impractical.

The modern "Duramax" Allison cannot be used behind a Powerstroke. My guess is he is mistaken on it having an Allison trans.

Premise for the post: I have had lots of people that say they would give anything to have an Allison in there Ford, So I thought it was funny that he said there was one in the truck..... (BTW, the Allison trans in the Duramax trucks are overrated...)

So, if you all are confused even more now, and I look like even more of a Dummy, let me know and I'll get the thread removed
Might open up a can of worms here, but you can use an Allison behind a 7.3 with a standalone controller and a little driveline modification to make it work. Here's a link to the adapter plates: DESTROKED: Cummins Conversions I forget where the controllers come from. Regardless it is probably more work than it's worth to get it in and working right as opposed to just getting the E4OD rebuilt right.

If I'm not mistaken he got called out on it on the Nation. And went off saying he put the allison in it, and just went all crazy.

The whole Allison story pisses me off. The TH400 was one of the most bulletproof transmissions ever made. Just like Ford did with the C6, GM put an extra gear on it on the newer trucks. Then the bean counters start cutting corners and make it into a crappy transmission that starts failing all the time. Once GM gets a bad rap on the transmission they are forced to go out of house to Allison for a transmission, when they had the know how right there.
