wiring question

Mouse nest behind passenger battery. Using the battery insulation to make a nest! Anyway, they also chewed off insulation on a green wire with red tracer that is just a short wire (2 inches) that is looped in a connector that plugs into harness behind the battery. Anyone know what this connector is? I repaired the wire with a new wire and heat shrink but curious to what this connector is for.

So...this is for the secondary alternator? Yellow wire on left and looped green wire with red trace on right. Thanks.
