Emblem Clips Needed for 48-50 Truck

I've looked on numerous websites and in lotsa catalogs... and have found clips for the hood spears but need clips for the F-O-R-D letters on the latch panel above the grille and the Ford emblems on the sides of the hood. Does anyone know who sells these clips ?

I can't remember what they look like. I know I have a handful of the ones for the spears laying around.

Have you tried your local paint and supply store? Most auto body supply places should be able to find them and/or find another clip that will work

I was able to find some that will work at my local paint supply store that work for the spears (mid size), the ones for the nose half circles are had to find (small), the ones for the nameplates on the side of hood (large) are hard and I'm not sure what the ones for the F O R D looks like since I dont have any.... I have letters F O D missing the R and all the mounting clips...

I think the Ford letters had posts cast into them and took a small nut to hold them in place

My 52 also has the FORD letters and the clips are missing. The PO fastened them with some sort of an aftermarket clip. I'll take a picture tomorrow and post it. I also have come across an origin FORD emblem that goes on the hood the FORD letters with the original clips. I'll also take a photo of them and post here tomorrow. Both sets appear to be specific to the application.

Stay tuned....

The clips are like a squared "U" bracket, two bolts run through them and into the back of the letters, sandwiching the filler panel between them. They're fairly easy to make out of some thin 1/4" flat stock metal.

Are the F O R D letters for a '52 the same as the '48-'50 style? I have several sets of those.....will have to check if they have clips.

Yes, they're the same. It's not a clip, per se, but a long "U" shaped small bracket like Bob describes.

I found an "R". I'll have to check to see if I have another "R" somewhere. I'm also looking to complete a set for the 48 F1 that I just bought. It's missing the "O".

Here are the pictures of the mounting brackets for the letters and the FORD emblem that goes on the side of the hood.

The brackets for the letters are more like 1/8" or even 1/16" thick metal. They can be easily fabricated. I forgot to measure their exact dimensions, but can do so later today or tomorrow.

The bracket inside the long FORD emblem that goes on the side of the hood is a bit harder to replicate. It looks like the bracket was inserted first and then the sides of the emblem were stamped/bent over the bracket. One can use some aftermarket clips that are either spring loaded to fit inside the emblem or clips that have to be trimmed to fit.
