Brown and purple wire by the e-brake? What is this for?

I have a 1993 F150 5.0 with Auto tranny. There is a disconnected brown and purple wire set down by the e-brake. They are both solid colored, no stripes. I thought they went to the PO's alarm horn, but I'm pretty sure I'm mistaken since they brushed up against a ground and sparked up.

I had a problem today with the truck shutting down a couple times while driving, I wonder if the wires burshed up against something and shut something off.

Brushed up and grounded out? Are they bare wires or a connector? You should never have any bare wires hanging in your truck.

I agree with your last sentence... I wish the PO agreed with it as well. They are bare on the ends. The wires disappear into the loom.

Look for something that is not plugged in. Maybe the connector broke and he never got around to replacing it. Just a though.
