NumbersDummy,

I need help finding a part and It looks like you're the guy to ask. Do you know where I can find the "step" part for my flareside truck? I ordered a step plate from Dennis Carpenter but it's part of a running board. I need the actual step that goes between the front of my rear fender and the back of the cab. This piece should come by itself, as it looks like only a handful of bolts keeps it on. Does anyone make this part? Thanks!

I know what you're referring to, but there are six possible steps.

Do you need a right (passenger) side, or a left (drivers) side? Is the step 25" long, 30 5/8" long or 37 1/2" long?

btw: I found a B&W factory photo of an F250 4WD tu-tone long bed Flareside. Only the roof and drip rails are painted (what appears to be) white, the rest of the truck is painted in a darker contrasting color.

I need the step for both sides, mine is 25" long. Just curious, but how would the larger sizes even fit on there? Where did you find a picture of the truck at?? I would love to see it if it's online somewhere. Thanks!

They all won't fit, but it was easier for me to type just the lengths of the steps, than to type the myriad applications of the steps and their lengths...because you didn't say how long your steps were.

These 25" Flareside steps fit: myriad 1957/58 F100/250's / 1959/66 F100/250 2WD/4WD's. But some of these trucks came with 17" (F100's) and 30 5/8" (F100/250) steps.

1957/66 F350's w/a 9' Express Flareside bed have 37 1/2" long steps, but I couldn't tell from your pics if this bed had been swapped onto your truck.

1) B7D-16482-A .. Right Hand Exterior Step-before Rear Fender-25" long / Obsolete

1) B7D-16483-A .. Left Hand Exterior Step-before Rear Fender-25" long / Obsolete

No Ford Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has either one.

Contact Mar-K (mar-k.com 405-721-7945) located in OKC. They reproduce Flareside beds and may have reproduced the steps.

B&W factory photo found on page 145 = Ford Truck Chronicle-The Complete And Colorful Story of Ford Trucks 1904-2006 / ISBN-13: 978-1-4127-1225-5 / or: ISBN-10: 1-4127-1225-4.

I found this hardcover book at Barnes & Noble in the "bargain section" for $19.95.

I just bought a 1963 F100 4x4. My question is why wouldn't there be a color code on the dataplate. It was left blank and my truck is painted Golden Rod Yellow. The paint looks to be original, One thing I noticed on my truck is the inside of the cab was painted with the gas tank already installed. In other words the tank is also painted Golden Rod Yellow. I always thought the cab interiors were painted before the tanks were installed.

Blank color means the truck was painted a special color . You should also have a six digit DSO.

Six Digit DSO

Thanks for your help. Yes it does have a six digit dso #421757. I 'am not sure about the color. I know its not School Bus Yellow, But it looks like Golden Rod to me. I also have a 1960 Ford Country Squire thats Yosemite Yellow. It looks very similar to that.
Best Regards, Tom

Finding steps

Hi @NumberDummy . I have a '77 long bed flareside 2wd with tool boxes where the fenders and steps once went. You seem like the expert on part numbers so I'm hoping you can help me out in my search.

I have a lead on steps. The guy says they are from a 60's 4wd long bed. That sounds good to me, and then he said they're different than 2wd steps.

Is that right?
