I have a86 e150 motorhome that the rear of the passenger exhaust manifoold is cracked and it looks like someone has brazed it. I have heard that this is a common problem with these. My question is, what is the best fix? replace the manifold with a new one,(where can I get one) or if I take this off can I get a welding shop to fix this one. thanx.

 

If it uses a stock passenger car manifold, they're on ebay all the time.

 

Once you have brazed it, you will probably never be able to heli-arc weld it unless all of the brazing material has been removed.

Best to find a replacement or get headers.

 

There are nickel electrodes designed for welding cast iron with an arc welder.I was able to fix my own quite easily using an ordinary AC welder so any good welding shop shouldn't have any problem.But most likely by the time you have it fixed you would be approaching the cost of one of the ebay ones, so that might be a better option.
