2003 Ford F250SD Security System PATS reset

Hello everyone,

I am having problems with my vehicle security/remote start system. I have 2003 ford f250 SD with the stock alarm/remote start (RKE/VSS/RMST) with the 4 button key fob (which I can't seem to figure out how to attach a photo of to this post?). I tried to start the truck remotely and realized that my drivers side door was open and it failed, which it is programmed to do in that situation. Somehow I must have triggered the alarm system during this and now the vehicle I suspect has killed the starter as a anti-theft precaution. I can't even start the truck with the key in the ignition.

I downloaded a manual online to program the RKE/VSS/RMST, but it looks like it is for the 2006 model/year, which might be different as it shows a 5 button key fob. I have 2 keys for the vehicle which I am assuming are the stock keys (I bought the truck from the original owner in 2012).

-Does anyone have the proper manual/info to reprogram/reset the PATS?
-Does anyone know which button on the 4 button key fob is the programming/override button?
-Is it as simple as pulling out the module under the dash and reinserting it?

I have called the 1-800-FORD-KEY phone number but they weren't any help, they told me to get it towed to the dealership which would be my last and most expensive option.

Thanks for any help.

Have you tried the owners manual? Here's a link.

I can't believe it would be that complicated to get the truck going. You would think once you turned some of the locks and/or the ignition with the proper key(not the key fob) that this would be verification to the system that someone authorized with the proper key is getting ready to operate the vehicle and to reset itself.

try turning the key on and then hit the unlock button and turn the key off. Thats all I can remember from the dealer installed systems from back then. You can always remove all that crap and restore it to OEM
