first off- I have an 04 cc 4x4 6.0,
so i got in my truck today for the first time in prob 4/5 days and went straight to the gas station to fuel up,, it was on empty when i got there...
so i pumped $95.xx into it and stopped early because i didnt feel like completely filling it up... anyways, i started it up to head back home and noticed that my gauge was reading "E" still, i didnt think too much of it because ive had this happen before on other cars, usually they will start reading later on down the road.
this did not happen, once i got home i shut the truck down and turned the key back on and same thing. (also my DTE is reading 359mi till empty) so that seems to be working correctly. but i noticed the gauge goes down to the peg or what ever it is when the key is off,
scenario;
key off- all gauges dead. resting on pegs.
key on- all gauges move to appropriate positions, ie temp, trans, fuel, pres, rpm, mph. all go to the bottom of there sweep and are in the reedy position,,,,
anyways any help will be great.. hope the description helps..
btw i tried searching but i didnt have any luck finding anything. if you know or find a thread let me know.. thanks..

No, i didnt leave the key on. ive done that in the past and i noticed it didnt go to full all the way until later..
if the sending unit is broken than why would my DTE still read correctly, or is there something about these trucks that is unlike any other ive seen????
thanks, Max
I know this is off topic, when I was installing a GPS in a truck at work, I took the gauge cluster out, put it all back together started it up, and fuel gauge wouldn't move from E
Now, I just filled the truck up a day ago, and no one drove it.
After a few times of starting the truck and shutting it off it finally went up to F
ok so i went out and drove for about a half hour. and it slowly started creeping up to full...
now i feel like a *** for starting a thread for something that time healed lol.
thanks again for the responses guys..
Max
I also have the slow needle. I just fill it up and in the next little while it creeps up to where it is accurate. No biggie, although I was worried the first time I fueled it up.
