I need a Dianosis.
That is my truck, and its stuck in the picture. The mud may not look bad, but it was thick. 44 boggers would go through it either. So anyway I'll get on to what I screwed up.
I have my rev limiter set to 4500, so I can just hold it to the floor and not worry about over revving, well after hammering down for a little bit, but truck started rattling, lost oil pressure, and sounded kinda like a diesel.
We pulled it out, and I got a trailer and loaded up, I cranked it to load it and it held 15 pounds of pressure for long enough to load it but it still sounded like a diesel.
I have not checked the oil simply because I was clean and didn't want to get muddy, (I know that's pretty lame) but, there was no oil residue floating in the mud hole. So I don't think I somehow got a leak. I think more than likely, I somehow lost a lifter out of the bore, and that's where the oil pressure went.
So what do y'all think? If it is a lifter, do I need some heavier duty springs in the heads or do I just have something fubarred? This is the second time this has happened.
I have a video I can upload where you can here the noise it was making, but it will be a little bit.

Yea, it will be the weekend before I can work on it. But, It doesn't hold good Oil pressure, so to me that means A) No Oil (very unlikely but I will obviously check it first.) B) Oil Pump sucked up something odd and killed the supply, or I lost a lifter. I'm just trying to get my ideas together before I dive in.
BTW the motor is fresh, I had it built in February, so I shouldn't be worn out or anything.

Because the last time the motor lost oil pressure like this and ran rough, I had a lifter pop out. I'm thinking maybe the springs are too light or I some how broke a stud or rocker arm. I don't know how I would have lost a cam lobe, but I won't know for sure until I take it apart.
I didn't think I'd have a problem with 4500 rpm though.

First off what size engine and what cam?
Most cams wipe between idle and 2500rpm
Id check a loose rocker arm first but if you are running a stock springs with a cam requiring more seat pressure youre really screwing up. Also, unless your cam maxes out at 4500rpm why do you have it limited there? Even most stockish cams have a higher power band than that.

I think there are some odd issues here, I've neve had a lifter pop out even with bent pushrods.
If I remember right, your are running a 460 right?? If that's the case, you should be fine running it out to 5500 rpms, I even do that with my old warn out stock 460 that uses a qt of oil to 40 miles.
Didn't you also have issues with overheating? Or was that someone else??
