Tranny Shifting

Does anyone else feel like the tranny in there ecoboost shifts to much. I drive the truck in tow mode all the time cause i get better fuel mileage this way. It seems like the stock settings is set up for driving down the highway, maybe its just me but you would think driving in tow mode you'd get worse mileage. Does anyone else have this issue???

The transmission is designed to shift as needed. To get optimum mpg's, I'd suggest allowing the transmission to utilize all six gears.

I have the 3.73 with electronic locker. Ever since i've run it in tow mode ive increased my mpg average from 13mpgs to 15mpgs driving the same places. It seems to me the 6th gear is more for if your on open road all the time where i live it just makes the truck a pain and trys to shift to frequently going up hills or anything causing the truck to fall on its face and then dropping a few more gears to pick itself back up. In tow mode it doesnt do this, i can see 6th gear if i was to travel the highway but i never do thats why I also got the 3.73 gears. Also alot of the grades I travel are between 5 to 10% all the time its very hilly around here if your not going up your going down.

How many miles you have? How many miles were driven in T/H as opposed to not? These transmissions learn your driving technique, so you may have it adjusting correctly in T/H but not reg? Also, T/H will hold gears longer, if on that many steep grades I would want to hold gears longer also--may even put it in manual. However, having not received my ecoboost yet I can't really know how the trans is programmed.

Keep us updated on this.
