The front end is out of a 1985 Grand Fury (torsion bar). A friend of mine started the build, but did not install the front end correctly. He installed air bags front and rear. Because of the way he installed the front end I could not get enough caster when I took it in for alignment. By this time I decided that Air bags were not for me (just a personal thing). I know that air bags work very well if installed with levelers and such, but these were not. Since I am working with a limited budget, I decided to re-install the torsion bars and make them workable. I scored a used set from another friend of mine and made the front end usable. The old torsion bars had been sawed in half so the air bag set up could work. I also had to remove the upper control arms and modify the cap bracket that they mount too. Now it sits perfect (my opinion). The entire front and rear frame halves have been z'eed to help get the right stance. I will sell the air equipment to offset the cost of coil overs for the rear. Hope this answers your question; if not, ask away!
great looking truck i am a fan of air bags though what are you going to do for suspension gget a coilover setup? how high off the ground will you have it set at?
I have restored the torsion bar front suspension, and the rear will be coil over shocks. The final ride height will be right around 4" to 5" at the bottom of the door. It won't be much higher than my avatar picture. Thanks for your comments.
Just added 4 new pics taken this A.M. They show the Z'eed framework on both sides, front and rear. The front is Z'eed 4", and the rear is Z'eed 5". All numbers are approximate, but close. I would need a completely bare frame to provide an absolute measure. Please forgive the dust and rust, as I've got it blown apart for finish modifications and repair. Hope this helps!
