What are you running and hows the mileage

I am curious to hear what others are getting for mileage out of these nice old trucks. What gear ratios engine mods that may or may not help. Just wondering what every one is running

I will start
Recent 300 mile trip averaged 13.2 mpg at 65mph in town its more in the line of gpf

1974 f250 highboy 6500lbs empty
390 ci
2 speed electric cooling fan
Holley dubble pumper spread bore with adapter to stock manifold off 352
about 11 to 1 compression ratio high lift/overlap cam timing at 6* advanced (still knocks sometimes)
hooker competition headers 2.5 inch exost with thrush glasspacks true dual (5 feet of pipe on each side plus 27 inch glasspack)
4.10 gears 33x12.5 tiers and np435 trany
the truck always runs at 210* summer winter

lets hear what you all have and are getting

this comes up every once in awhile. its actually pretty laughable. the best mod to make is to get a metro, or rabbit, or something along those lines, and save the truck for fun.

+1^ I have an Omni for that...but it is turbo charged so if I keep my foot in it I can get terrible gas mileage for that too.

I am running a 73, 360 stock, Autolite 2100 carb, auto, no A/C, stock gears in back (3.54 I think, tho I am not sure at all) and I get around 10mpg.

The truck doesn’t get used every day just for work and play, or when nothing else runs as it is so reliable. “Work hard play Harder!”

The get around car Saab 900 turbo if I’m nice it gets pretty good mileage however if I drive it hard it can get just as bad as the truck maybe worse. and a kz900 ltd for the summer

76 F250 4x4, 315/75/16 tires, 4.10 gears np435/205, 445ci FE (look at my garage for details) I get about 9-11 mpg. Most of that hwy. Thats really babying it around. Put my foot in and I need the tanker to follow me around. Seriously I used $20 of gas in one trip across town hotrodding around. Must have only went 8 miles or so. Thats like 1.5mpg! haha

I have 8 rigs that range from 33's-42's, with 3.55's-5.13's. Power is provided by mildly built 400's on up to a 521. All of them are backed by a C6. And when driving reasonably, none of my rigs get worse than 4mpg's...and go all the way up to 12mpg's.

My old 79 150 with a 302 AOD dana 60 rear never checked the rear gear but I do know it was super low probably 3:08 or 3:50. Best I got with it was 18 mpgs with lots of tuning and weight savings. Sold it to my bud and his dad and him have dropped the belt drivin fan for electric and a couple other things and net 20.

My current rig is a 75 f100 302 3 on the tree 9 inch rear. No idea on gear but I'm getting around 16.5. If you really put the time and effort in to tuning it correctly they don't do to bad.

Specs of my rig in my signature.... 3.54 rear gears and as aerodynamic as a sheet of drywall. Mileage? I like to say "Some"!

Seriously, 13 mpg is the absolute best I have ever pulled by really babying the throttle and hypermiling.... normally around 10 mpg but I really don't mind since it is a toy.... My DD gets 23 mpg highway, the 65 and 68 about 22 each, the S'Crew can get 18, and the 71 around 20.

i got a 77 f150 4x4 (in the sig) 4spd with 33"s and true duals. no engine mods done to it. all town miles on it since i've had it. i probably get around 8-10 with it. was getting about 6 when i had the 36"s on it.

for the dd though i had a 91 Ranger STX 2.9l v6 5spd 4x4 with 29"s on it. got 19 at the best. last trip i took before it died i got 17 with it. got a 96 Ranger XLT now and i have yet to check the mileage (let alone drive it around enough to burn gas). it's a 2.3l I4 with a 5spd. short bed, standard cab, and 2wd.

I have a 79 F350 4X4 with a 400 4BBL edelbrock manifold and carb and I get around 10MPG if I keep my foot off the pedal.

My truck is not my daily driver, just my mistress.
