well, me and my ol' '67 have been doin pretty good lately, but today it started running kinda bad again... what it's doing is hesitating or bogging down at anything from light to mid-throttle... if you open it up, it'll go ahead and take off. I took the breather off of it after this started, the engine was still hot, and the choke was open. You can rev the engine fine when it's in neutral, but you try to go in drive and it doesn't act like it wants to. when it's being revved in neutral, we didnt' see any black smoke, so i don't think it's flooding itself out, and there was fuel going into the filter, but i haven't taken the line off yet to see if it's partially obstructed. any ideas?
it is a 4bbl carb, and the only problems i've had with the floats are that they've gotten stuck a time or two... i'm not saying that isn't it, but it just doesn't seem likely. i had the cap and rotor off a couple weeks ago, it looked just about perfect then. again, anything is possible. i'll look at it again tomorrow and try to get more info.
well, we adjusted the points on the ingition just to be sure, adjusted the air/fuel some, messed with the timing, idle, etc, and got it to pretty much straighten out last night. It was acting up again this morning, but over the course of the day it has gotten back to normal, so i'm guessing maybe there was just something in the carb that shouldn't have been... anyhoo, it's doin ok for now!
Check the wire from your condensor to the points, I have seen the vac advance arm rub this wire and form a hole in the insulation. When this happens the ignition will be grounded out as the vac arm is pulled past the weaken insulation point,
