L&L 460 engine swap motor mounts for 71 4x4

i'm about to swap in a 460 in my 71 f250 crew cab 4x4 with a 360 in it currently. was looking into the L&L motor mounts before i buy them i wanted some opinions on them from people that have experience with them or know about them are they a good investment? do they bolt right in no drilling or anything? do they align the motor in the right spot? not to far forward or backwards or set up to high or low? just seeing if this is the best solution or if they are a headache on there own don't want to spend the money and end up having to do any fab work or make changes heres the link to the mounts 429,460 Conversion Motor Mounts 360,390 1967-76 4wd

I haven't heard anything negative about them. L & L has been building these mounts for many years so I would guess they've got it figured out.

L and L mounts good!

Good product and they seem to back their warranty pretty good. I have broke a set before and it cost me a C-6 bellhousing in the process. I was playing hard when it happened. But as another alternative it www.autofab.com. they build offroad racing motor mounts and they will not break. Just ask for john and he will get you squared away if you go this route. he builds and races these mounts and just check him out another good source for ford stuff. just tell him robert from wyoming sent you. currently working a project and running some of his products for my truck.

Thanks for the link Robert ill check into it when I get home you always have great information for my many questions does his mounts bolt right up to the existing holes in my frame? Or do you need to drill new ones? I'm looking for direct bolt in mounts I got mounts out of a 79 f250 4x4 that had a 460 in it I test fit them and 2 of the 4 bolts that go through the side of the frame don't line up and both top bolts are half a hole off I was told these mounts won't work any idea if they will?

direct mount in factory position. double check with john on your application. just check out site and call and john will get you squared away. If you break these you probably died in the crash. so warranty doesn't matter. Ha! Ha! not really funny but had to go their.

these type of mounts are common in the offroad racing world in all applications. Another thing to check out is his fiberglass hoods and fenders for these trucks pretty cool stuff. I think C and D fabrication has a 1970's truck fitted up with this setup and offroad racing truck. baddazz truck for old iron. Catch you later. On the mounts failing refer back to earlier post where you died in awesome crash for warranty. On the mounts if movement gets excessive you just replace the urethane bushing and your good scary simple. but one thing that comes with these better mounts is you might pick up some vibration from motor. the normal factory mounts with rubber absorb some of the motor vibes and the urethane doesn't soak up the vibes as good. Gain durability but get a little more engine feeling. Pick your poison on which way to go. figured I mentioned this because some people don't like. I do like the feeling and don't want to replace another tranny again, expensive!!

i think i'll be getting these mounts hopefully i'll be ready to order in the next 2 weeks just bought my 8'' SD lift kit so i need to wait to get more cash flow i do like that the mounts will give you more feel of everything always good to help solve hidden problems that get soaked up through rubber mounts. how long does the urethane hold up usually before needing replaced? i was also thinking if people like these mounts but want rubber to soak up the vibrations couldn't you use a piece of 3/8-1/2'' thick rubber pad and cut them and drill some holes to fit between the engine and mounts to help soak things up? thinking of this incase anyone was turned off by to much vibration with these mounts.

bronco has a set of mounts that bolt in place of the factory mounts with a urethane type bushing. Just have to check out and see. never wore my out so I don't know. I think just about anything is possible but the rubber quality will be the issue compared to motormounts type rubber.

this truck won't be doing any racing or extreme off roading but will see it's share of abuse so for the piece of mind on the motor mounts holding up i think i'll be going with the autofab mounts i'll have to give them a call and talk to them i'm hoping i'll be able to order within the next 2 weeks it'll be alittle while until im ready to install the engine so i won't know right away how they fit and what not

They do break and warranty was good but my tranny housing broke during the incidents. Cost me about $2000.00 bucks to replace tranny. new housing and repair tranny. Didn't realize they broke until I was in a bad situation. Just the way it works. Part of the cause was the suspension didn't flex enough for the situation I was in and frame flexed and BAM!! I have now fixed this problem and havn't had a problem since. Just things to consider. If running around town and normally on flat gound shouldn't be a issue. but if crawlin around and twisting it will be a issue if you frame is flexy.

I'll have to out them to the test when I get them won't be awhile until ill be able to try them out as I'm doing a lot of mods at once to my truck when I'm done I'm hoping it will be a good on road off road truck I think if I can get these mounts to break something else is off and will break also what kind of warranty is on the autofab mounts?

not sure on warranty? I know one thing for sure is once you upgrade something you weaken another part. just the way it works. finding balance is the trick. finding that balance for your truck is gonna be fun!

No such thing as original. The first year Ford offered 4WD w/a 460: 1983. Ditto for a manual trans.
