I haven't a clue since there was no such thing until 1983.

There are no 460 4WD factory engine supports (aka towers, stands, perches) to search for prior to 1983, because there aren't any. 1980/82: The 460 was only available in Econolines.

1973/79 F100/350 460: All these trucks were 2WD / Econoline 460 supports (all 2WD as original) will not work on F100/350's.

1983 was the first year Ford offered a 460 w/4WD and w/a manual trans: F350 only. And because the frame is different, these will not bolt to a 1979 or earlier truck.

i do know this information is all correct that you posted. i'm just wondering what these mounts came out of originally they bolted right in the stock mounting holes of the 79 i'm wondering if these are the stock 400 engine mounts somehow made to bolt up the 460 but like i said it was clean and unrigged/hacked install

probably 400 mounts made to work?

This is the norm for back in the day. Never ran a factory 460 motor mount. Order my L n L mounts and called it good. Scary simple! I've always ran the 460 over the 400 frame mounts in the later 70's frames in f-150 and f-250. just picked up some 400 mounts yesterday for a 1970 f-250 frame. very similar and will see if they will work in this applicaiton.

^
^ The mounts pictured are the same I have in my 1979 4X4 F250. Must be stock FOMOCO as I wouldn't think aftermarket would put a FOMOCO line retainer in them. Any part # on them?

What engine do you have in your 79? I'd like to figure out what these are for it would save the 77-79 guys some trouble of buying new aftermarket towers if they can find a set of these the 460 should bolt right in I'll have to look and see if I can find a part # I just got a set of autofab swap mounts for this install should have them soon ill post pics of install when I get them

I don't know at this time what the PO had in there originally, ( I will ask him) but it was swapped out to a 460 from a 1976 Lincoln. From what I can see, the towers in my truck are original FOMOCO. Mine even has the same line retainer, same color! When you get around to swapping engines, check to see if those mounts will fit in your 71. I don't know if there were any frame changes for 4X4's from 70-79 but if they fit, someone can use them.

They may fit only thing is I put them on and could only get 1 top bolt in the other was half a bolt hole off the side bolts didn't even line up to far apart length wise if I remember correctly I'll put the autofab mounts in take some measurements on engine height and how far back it sits then try the stock mounts and see what the difference is might get lucky and only need to make new mounting holes for the stock mounts to work ill let you know when I get the parts

alittle update i got the autofab mounts this week and test fitted them on my frame they fit pretty good the passenger side bolts up great no issues the drivers side is good except you need to remove a factory fuel line clip and the top two holes for the bolts are just alittle off see pic but that's nothing to fix i really like that they use all 6 holes in the side of the frame to bolt up i'm happy with the quality of them big test is when you try bolting the engine in hoping to get to that part in 2 weeks or so heres some pics of them in

white clip needs removed

drivers side top of frame mounts

Won't be long until you have that truck running now that you have the mounts! Do you have any pics of the 79 mounts and how they fit? Just wondering how close the fit would be.
