my highboy build/story

Hey there guys i just wanted to post my FORD(woot woot) truck build/story.
I am lucky enough to have my dads old truck its a 1973 f250 highboy that he bought as the third owner in 1976. The truck was originally a feild sprayer from the first owner and the second owner bought it to resell it. The controls for the sprayer were on the passenger floor and rusted out a 4x4 hole that my dad fixed with a plate. This truck has a lot of family history. My mom drove it when she was pregnant with my older brother, and my uncle drove it when he got out of the army, and lots of other people have borrowed the truck. I am glad to have it, heck my older brother that my mom was pregnant with drove the truck as the shop truck when he worked for my dad(he had a accident in the truck cuz the lowsy front drums wldnt stop the truck). About two years ago when i was 13 i asked my dad about this truck we had sitting in the yard for 9 years and asked him whats up with it and if i could have it and he said yes (yay). It had no motor in it because my brother had taken it out because we did the well known 460 swap but the motor mounts we had weren't right and kept ripping, and it had a horrible clutch chatter because of them. It just wasnt done right so he took the motor out with intensions of doing it right but it never happend (untill i came along). Since i got the truck i have made custom motor mounts to accept the stock 460 ones, put the new radiator in that he bought for it because the 360 on couldn't keep the beast cold, put a aftermarket radio in, did a serpintine swap from a 92 460, painted engine compartment, replaced rear main seal, replaced valve cover gaskets, replaced oil pan gaskets (no more leaks ). I am currently in the procces of the dana 44 disc brake axle swap, the superduty spring lift, and saginaw powersteering conversion. There is lots left to do. Air conditioning(got that all figured out thanks to nostalgic air), rinoline floor after correctally fixing floors, paint battery boxes, mount winch bumper "wings", rebuild warn 12000 pound winch, install custom rear and side gas tanks, install 12 inch subwoofer. I cant think of anything else so thats it. Oh and we made the speaker hole in the door bigger to accept rockford fosgate 6.5 speakers. Also most of the stuff was in the bed for 9 years cuz the retards at work are stupid and careless so i had to track down a new set of gauges and put them in. On a better note all the wireing in the truck is pretty much PERFECT

When i got it

well my brother picked up a zf 5 speed for me on friday. $550 and that includes master cylinder and slave cylinder. i thot it was a good price considering the only other ones i could fine were 700. so that should be going into my truck soon. i still need to finish the front suspension

That truck is gonna become more and more important to you... I got mine 7 years ago right after I turned 17 (now that I think about it, it was 7 years and about a week) and it became very well known in my home town. alot of memories.

I'll bet that when you turn 16, everybody is gonna notice that highboy! keep up the good work, and keep the pics coming!

well turns out that all the fourms ive been reading are about married transfer case trucks so the 4wd transmission will not work for my truck however they r very popular in my area and i should be able to resell it for a decent profit

I think it was in 77(?) that ford started to use married transfer cases. I believe that all you should need is the right transfer case and the correct driveshafts.

Its 77.5 that they started making them but we decided we want to keep the divorced trans case cause then we don't have to have driveshafts made anits in the center of the truck right now so both pinion angles are optimum

Hello
Cant you change the tailhousing parts to make the ZF a 2wd box and then get a tailshaft made to fit the divorced transfer case?
