I'll add a little information and hope it doesn't add confusion. I got a T98 out of a junkyard '53 truck. The transmission was original, but the yard owner had installed a 292 Y-block when he used the '53 as the yard truck. He used a Y-block bell housing and it bolted to the stock '53 transmission. I think the bell housing to transmission bolts went in from the bell housing side (transmission was threaded). I should be able to take a look at the transmission on Friday if anyone needs specific information.

Now that pics are working again, I'll add these from my 254cid T98. The first pic is passenger side, the second pic is looking over the top to the driver side, since it's layed up against a wall.

Havi, where is the mount on that trans? My F-6 (6 cyl) T98 is mounted on a crossmember under the trans....only one I've seen that way. Do you have a pic of the mount, or the rear of the trans? Thanks.

scott is there anyway of getting a better pic of that tranny mount ??? wjile i am assembling the new chassis and suspension for my 53 i have every intention now that the 5 speed swap is caput , too build a rear tranny mount and crossmember as i just don't like the idea of 145 pounds of metal hanging there by 4 bolts on these lovely roads around here . what i can see of yours is kinda what i got pictured in my mind ................... well besides all the purty young girlie pics and flathead goodies that swap in and out ...............

This may have been cleared up before and I missed it, but is the short bell housing with the clutch throw out arm (the "hogshead") the same for both T-9s and T-98s?
