Those of you with stacks, I got a question
#16
i had a 96 7.3 with miter cut 6" grandrocks and didnt run my bed liner, i dont like em anyway! but what i did do was get an 8' rubber bed mat and cut it back to the length so it just touched the clamps that clamp the y-pipe to the bed. that worked real well. i dont know what these trucks run for temps i havent had my 6.0 very long but my buddy has a 12 valve cummins with 6's in it and he has set trash on fire in the back of his rig while we were going up-country to ride our sleds, (it was cold!) so i dont know how close i'd get a bedliner, but thats just me, i'm not lookin to start an argument with anyone who says its ok, im just sayin is all.

I'm looking into getting the single black stack off center in the bed. As far as the plastic bedliner I was thinking of doing away with it and getting a spray-in after i cut the hole for the stack. I am also curious about the sound level in the cab and getting water in it(like during a hurricane not just a little moisture). Has anyone tried drilling a weep hole( say 1/8" or so) in the bottom of the 90?

i know my stacks in the 96 were not horrendously loud and i had no cat no muffler and dual 6's, i mean you couldnt miss my truck goin through town but i didnt get chased down by the cops. and ya i drilled a weep hole right at the bottom of the 90 and we get plenty of rain and snow, i never had an issue.

I drilled a tiny weep hole in the lowest point of my system...water in the pipe is really no big deal it's something you'll get over. When i first had the stack i was always covering my pipe, but i don't even bother anymore...If you have to replace a section of a pipe with rust so what...consequences that come with stacks...
In terms of straight pipe...I gotta rear window, and if its open, IT IS FREAKIN LOUD! Don't expect anyone to sit in the back with the window open, they will go deaf within 5 minuts. HOWEVER, with the window closed it's quite reasonable. Its amazing what a bit of glass does in terms of sound deadning...
Ther's no reason to worry about melting bed liner it wont happen...I once melted a plastic bag to the pipe before i wrapped the pipe with two layers of header wrap...no more worrying.

Looks good man. I got tired really quick of the stacks on my dodge but it was a cummins and only an extended cab so it was pretty loud. Dont think I could ever get tired of listening to a 6.0 though, no matter how loud it is!
BTW im not sure if someone mentioned this already, but if you dont cover the stacks and/or put a hole in the bottom, all the rain water will mix with the soot in the exhaust and blow out and make your truck really dirty. Just giving you a heads up
