OT - Lost my Buddy

Lost my buddy "Red-Dog" this week.

Had the Vet come out to the house and do the deed. He had MS and had lost the ability to walk in his rear-end. He loved riding in my truck with me and especially liked riding past the egg ranch to smell those chickens.

He was a state certified "Therapy Dog" and brought a lot of people comfort in their tough circumstances. Even in death, his spine and nerves were donated to a lab in Colorado that does research on MS in Humans.

Tough Day. From what I've seen on this Forum, dogs are a natural accessory for Ford Trucks.

Need to change my Avitar.

Ernie

Hate to hear that. Good looking dog in those pics. My almost 16 year old dalmatian wandered off presumably to die last week. I've killed myself trying to find her. She could barely walk, but yet she has vanished. I've been in every thicket, creek bed, culvert, and places I didn't even know existed trying to find that poor dog. We were getting ready to have her put down. I guess she decided for us. I just wanted to bury her. Lesson learned. It has bothered me so badly. I just hope my kids don't find her at this point. Best dog I ever had.

Sorry to hear it.

I hate losing pets. That is part of why I will not have another one.

My friend in AK lost her dog that used to go boating with her. I was working on her boat one day and found a large amount of dog hair in the bilge and told her that she would never be able to get all the hair out of that boat and that Mogie would be with her forever. She takes comfort knowing a part of that dog is still boating with her.

Don't change the avatar unless it hurts you to see it.

I am dreading the day when my buddy goes to the big bone pile in the sky. I just need to convince her to quit smoking.

All jokes aside my heart goes out to you. Its surprising how much we bond with these animals.

There's an epitaph on a dog's grave in Maryland....

Major: Born a dog, died a gentlemen.

About sums it up I think.

As a life long dog owner i can sympathize with you....I am so sorry for your loss!
I just put my pal down and it was one of the hardest days of my life.

But on the up side I am going to get another pup in the spring. I have the pick of the litter out of the same line as she was from!

I lost DawgGaugahn almost 6 months ago - She had the ability to tell when my seizures were coming on and she would force me to the bedroom.
She comes back to visit a few times a month - Last week there was a wet spot on the floor were she used to lay - That area is rarely accessed.
"Red Dog" will be with you forever, In you mind and in your heart.
All Dogs are Ford Tough.

Sounds like a great companion. Sorry for your loss.
My wife and I travel everywhere with our kids(furry) and they even go to the supernat's with us.
Dogs and trucks are very on topic.
I buried my best buddies in past few years, but have rescued 3 more and they are constant companions. Never let me down. Best friends forever!!!

Sorry for your loss. Hearing of yours brings back memories of our Cocker, Sadie, she had congestive heart failure and lived 18 months longer than the doctor thought. Putting her down was very hard. They become family.

Sorry to hear about Red-Dog. We had to have our 14 year old Shepherd put to sleep right after the holidays. Every time it happens I'm reminded that they just don't live as long as we do....yet we keep doing this.

My heart goes out, Its the toughest thing.....as for my pup he is always there to listen while I think out loud fixing up the truck. Seems like he always has good advise.
