OT - Lost my Buddy
#18
Aw man, Sorry to hear that. 4 years ago I had to have our German Shepard put down due to liver cancer. Hardest thing I ever had done. Then we got another Shepard and she was with us up till about the first of the year and we came home to find her dragging her hind quarters. Vet said it could be a number of things but advised to put her down too. I said we wouldn't go through this again but the wife brought home the cutiest solid white German Shepard puppy, I hope he is around for a long time....

I am sorry for your loss. I lost my best friend about a year ago after 15 years. She was with me through the really tough times when it was only her and me. I miss her today as bad as the day I lost here...........

As a "certfiable" dawg & truck lover...
I am sad to hear of your loss as well! Last month Pop lost his beloved mini
beagle Rufus. If not for his enlarged heart problem he might have lived
longer than my eldest one yet. Rufus lived to the ripe old age of 15, but
my extra large beagle that was over 2"s above breed standard lived from
12 april 1992 to 21 august 2008. Goober was such a strong chewer that
he even outlived his teeth to the point that his molars were worn down
to his gumline! He also outlived my home mortguage, but not my truck as
his "first & last ride was in my p/up"! Rufus, was the last of the 3 Amigo
pack as Duke, Goober & Rufus were known! Every time Duke & Rufus heard
my truck pull into Pop's driveway they would go "apepoopy" if they also
heard Goober, as that meant they were going fishing on our boat or
exploring the forest!

Sorry to hear about your loss. My wife and I have lost 4 of our critters in the last year. We lost Ms. Kitty in Feb 2010 we got her back in 93 right after we got married, so she made it 17 years. Barney (wifes Beagle) we got him in 98 and he made it to last Thanksgiving and the 2 youngest pups from Barney and Babe. The last 2 got out and ran off but thats Beagles for ya, they get on a scent and there gone lol. I'm dreading the day my Babe leaves me to go be with her Barney, we've had her since 99. Shes my spoiled girl, she sleeps next to me and makes me pet her belly till she falls asleep lol. I wouldn't change your avitar. Thats your buddy in his favorite spot, leave him there...

Dawg,
My heart goes out to you. I don't know why it is that dogs don't live that long but they still have to die old.
We have a German Shepard that is 15 years old, her hips are awful, have been for way too long. She's till alert and does not appear to be in pain. Her appetite is great and she still gets excited over her food. A week or so ago whe wasn't eating very well, she was having trouble getting up and her back legs would get crossed up and she'd go down. We made the appt. As the day drew nearer she rallied so we canceled. Its just a matter of time though. Its not an easy thing, she's been an intergral part of our family for 13 years.
Again, my heart goes out to you
