Question T-Stat housing bolts

Does anyone know where I can get replacement T-stat hosuing bolts besides the stealership? I've tried Ed's place but since he has been out with health problems his crew has not been good at getting back with folks. The local NAPA, AZ & O'Riley's don't have them.

If anyone knows a place to get them or part#, size, thread etc so I can maybe find a replacement at the local hardware please let me know.

if you got a bolt, i'd hit up Ace Hardware. I'd also get stainless.

Go to the international dealer. Matter of fact, if you need any part for the engine I would call them first.

I do have an ACE. I didn't want to take one of the bolts out in fear of snapping one. But I guess I can try that.

I went to our local IH dealer and bought 6 of the bolts. They were 30 something cents each.

I snapped one of my bolts off. I just drilled it out and replaced with a stainless steel nut an bold.

I would suggest you soak the bolts good with PB Blaster before removing.

I have some laying around somewhere in the garage, It may take a little to find them. If you can't find any then just PM me your address and how many you need and i'll get them out to you.

Going into aluminum, stainless isn't always the safest. That's not to say that it isn't OK here, but the thread-forming process tends to cause micro-galling of the stainless threads, which may tend to "catch" the aluminum into which it is threaded.

Always be sure to use some form of lubricant in this situation. This is one instance where the use of LocTite may not be the best thing.

Waht other material would you suggest? Definitely, you'd want some type of die-electrical grease, so corrosion wont set in....see these problems daily, working with skis.

For the OP, i too have a billett t-stat housing, and didnt think about, probably needing different/longer bolts, since, if memory serves right, the base of the a/f one, is thicker the the stamped stock one? Havn't got around to install'n mine yet.

The reason I need the bolts is because I need to change the water pump. When I replaced the t-stat one of the bolts snapped off. Drilled it out and put in another bolt. I too have the billet aluminum housing from dieselsite. I have all the parts in hand to do the job just need new bolts.

The local stealership said they would have to order them and wouldn't be in for 10 business days. These guys r freaking killin me. I'm still going to try ACE and found 2 IH dealers that I need to call tomorrow. Hopefully they have them and will mail them out since there 6 hours away.

Well, I have the bolts. Had to order them from the stealership cause both IH dealers didn't have them. I got the bolts in 2 days compared from the 10 days they origianlly quoted me. Cool thing was they gave me a military discount, which I wasn't expecting that.

Just to piggy back off my last post. The Ford part # is W300005 for the t-stat housing bolts. It's an 8mm bolt. Hope this helps anyone in the future.

I reused the stock bolts on the billet housing with no issues of them being too short. I just put some anti-seize on the treads and tighten them down.
