door glass instalation

Hi guys,
I got all of my new glass delivered Friday night. As many of you know I don't have a reference to install the new vs old as the old was all crumbly and looked like broken ice. (KIDS and bats will do that.) The question is, is the side glass support bar (channel with two tabs that attaches to the regulator arms hinge pins with spring clips) supposed to be centered on the bottom of the glass? I want to glue the rubber and glass into the channel before I install the assembly into the doors. If there is a dimension as to where the channel attaches to the glass I did not see it in the manual. I can visualize the glass centered front to back and that looks ok but I have the doors all apart for painting and want to set the glass and give the adhesive a couple of days to cure.
Thanks,
Marty

It's not quite centered. I can look tomorrow if nobody else comes up with it by then. If I'm remembering right, the front edge of the channel is 7/8" behind the front edge of the glass.

In other words the glass overhangs the channel by 7/8" in front.

Since fit and finish was not top priority when these trucks were made I would install the glass in the door before I glued anything in place, you don't want everything done and find the glass is too tight in the front or rear felt channel and have to tear it all apart to fit it properly. This is my openion since my glass don't fit so I'm still adjusting after five years, Garry

If I had my trucks out I'd take a ride over and show you. I might have a couple in storage above my office if you'd like to stop over.

Thanks Mark

I am also very interested in this subject... I got my truck without any glass and am
almost ready to do the same thing ( install door glass). I know that things don't fit exact in every truck but they should be close. Just need a starting point.

It's all flat glass and fairly easy to find a local vendor. I found it's getting hard to find an auto glass place to cut glass any more, at least in my area, I went to shop that does regular window and shower glass. You have to make sure they know what glass to use. The windshield is a different safety glass than the side and back glass.

Sorry for the late post, I could not get on line last night and tonight I spent my time in the shop. Great weather!

Bob,
Thanks for the offer, I plan on looking you up one of these days soon. I decided I will store the glass till I do the cab rite. rite now I am working on the IFS and engine.

I bought the glass from LMC. with everything to install it (I hope).
