Picking up my truck tomorrow! Been waiting a month to get it and finally I saved up all the money! I'm a young guy and very ambitious! Going to try to do alot of the work myself! Has a 87 350 chevy in it with a turbo 350 tranny and 9" 80something f150 rear end. Need to get a grille asap, speedometer, oak bed kit, and some serious sanding to clear that thick layer of white paint! Any thoughts suggestions and tips are welcome! Thanks guys!

Nice looking truck.if you are looking for a grill might as well look for the whole front end, like from a 51 52 they are better looking...just kidding looks great,
However the rear fenders are from a later model ,the gurus will be checking in later to tell you exactly what year,i would leave them there it looks good to my taste,
I have almost the same drivetrain as you do.Keep it up you really can do anything you set your mind to and if you listen to the folks out here you will learn a lot of things trust me I do.

Aside from the 53-up rear fenders, your 49 F-1 is either a 51-52 with 48-50 front sheet metal or a 48-50 F-1 with a 51-52 cab. Keep this in mind when looking for a speedometer. The 51-52 speedometer is different than the 48-50. If the rear end is from an 80s something truck it's too wide for your truck and you may have problems with wheel clearance on the rear. Also, the engine may not be an 87. I think GM started with the center bolt valve covers in 87 and I can't see any from your picture unless it has older heads on it. Welcome to FTE!

That's a 51-52 bed too (flat side, no raised panel). Good luck with your truck. I think I speak for all of us to say that we are not trying to be picky or judgemental about the truck you're planning on buying when we point that stuff out. We just hate to see somebody not have all the facts beforehand. I hope you enjoy it. Welcome to FTE!! I'm jealous about the sunshine in your pics. Rainy and snowy here today.

And there's a stainless trim in the windshield. Decent looking truck, but my biggest pet-peeve with these trucks is the mis-matching of parts.
I've always thought that one is going to build a truck from parts (by using several different trucks), at least stick to the same body style of the truck.

Kinda reminds you of Johnny Cash's "one piece at a time" Cadillac!
As the doc said we're not being judgemental about the truck but you should know it's definitely a "hybrid" and knowing where all the parts came from is going to help you in the long run...
My eyes must be bad as I don't see any stainless trim around the windshield. I think that's just Florida sunshine bouncing off the windshield rubber...

It's my understanding that the moulding goes in the rubber before the assembly is installed in the truck. You'll probably need to remove the windshield, put the trim in the rubber, and reinstall. You do have the correct rubber with the moulding groove, right?
