Seems v10 trucks are unloved

I had a V10 4v 2005 F250 Reg Cab long bed FX4, great truck - but I live in the mountains at 2400' and pull a 13000# 5er. During a 2008 trip to Salt Lake City, with regular at $5 a gallon, on the return home it was getting 4 - 5 mpg with 30 mph headwinds for 700 miles. Not the engines fault, but altitude matters with a non-turbo engine. In 2009 I traded it for a new 2009 F350 CC long bed Tow Boss 6.4 4X4 at the dealer I bought the F250 at and got $15000 on the trade in with 40 k miles. The F250 was off the lot in 2 days.
I have to admit the CC is more comforable here in the desert, the sun coming in the rear window of a Reg Cab can get hot!

As I have read in the newspaper lately, based on high fuel prices, and low mpg, SUVs have lost 30-40% value in the last couple months, as the market is flooded with them left and right. Dealers dont want them as trades, prospective vehicle buyers dont want them either. I suspect this momentum also trickles over to the truck market to a certain degree. If fuel prices keep climbing, expect even lower truck prices to come.

Ya i've personally heard good things on here and the mod motors in general. 300,000 is quite the amount, should be good for anyone, and after that you can just rebuild it and go another 300,000k.
@Future_LEO gas prices are about $3.75 cents here in ct. I look online and we have the fifth highest gas tax or very close. I can't imagine it would get worse than my 91' f250 gets right now. What mileage are you seeing?
I've seen these trucks pull tons a weight equal to the diesel, its sad as before diesels came along gas trucks did all the heavy lifting and whats the say they can't now just as then?

Can't really complain, in HS/college I had a 96 Sierra 1500 with the 5.7L V-8 and I was getting 10-12 at best, and thats when gas was where its at now again.
Mine had the 4" lift, 37" tires, FX4, XLT, 112xxx miles, long bed, super cab. The guy also threw in (4) 33" tires that where on the stock wheels, and also the toolbox, and 2 side toolboxes all for $5600. It was just south of Houston, he had it on Craigslist for a week, and I saw it and drove straight there and snagged it!
Sold the 33's w/ wheels for shy of $400, sold the 2 side rail toolboxes for $175. So not to bad of a deal!

There's still some higher priced trucks out there too. LoL. Then, people like me come along and buy them. DOH! Anyway, I just bought my '03 F250 XLT CC V10 4x4 SB 6" lift, 35's, bedliner, westin full length steps, billet grille, 48k miles... for $15k. Excellent condition truck. Tinted windows, clean, I likey.
I also picked up the SCT X3, S&B cold air intake, y-pipe, gibson exhaust and yellow bulbs for the driving lights.

2000 F250 V10
This January I just bought my 2000 F-250 Crew Cab SRW 4x4 with the 6.8L V10 and 124K miles for around $12,000. From Northeast Ohio if that matters.
Any diesel truck of similar quality was $4-5K more.
The only reason I can see them selling so much cheaper is the gas mileage. First 3 tanks averaged 9.5mpg. I put a K&N air filter in it and it didnt seem to change much if anything.

I bought my 03 crew cab, V10, stick a couple weeks ago for $3500 below NADA value, $5500 below KBB. I thought it was so cheap because of V10, but salesman said he had dozens of people look at truck, but as soon as they seen manual transmission they lost interest. Not me though. Just what I wanted. I only drive 6 or so miles round trip a day hauling kids. Absolutely love it! Can't wait to hook up to the camper!
