Aaahhhh, lockersssssss! I had a 96 Land Cruiser with the factory front and rear electric lockers, with center differential lock, (triple-locked) and it was amazing the things I could go through and over, and with such ease! You dont really have 4WD until you have lockers!

Sorry

I'm thinking about these wheels for my X. Would like to paint the silver part of the wheel Med.gold to match my truck. Tell me what you all think?

I like them. I'm not a gold wheel fan, so I say leave 'em the way they are.

I love your idea! Man don't listen to the people who don't like custom! This is perfect. I actually looked at doing those myself!

I have a question for the folks running the aftermarket wheels: Are your wheels hubcentric or lugcentric? I have been looking through the boards and all I end up with is a headache! My truck is not being used as a workhorse its more of a kid carrier. I cant afford to have a wheel come off with my payload. Some info would be appreciated.

Mine (in earlier pics) are lug-centric. I don't think carrying capacity is a much a concern as just not a long lasting design. The lug nuts tends to wear into the wheel over time and eventually they don't sit 'square' any more - at least thats what I've experienced and seen on smaller trucks in the past... I'm kinda **** about how I install them, always using dielectric grease or similar to lube up the nut/wheel interface - and of course sequential torquing. Another thing to remember is you need different lug nuts for your OE spare tire/wheel. All of that said, I would want hub-centric wheels if I was picking new ones. (mine were a CL 'deal' - lol)

I'm FINALLY going to get my new 285/75/16E Nitto Dura Grapplers mounted on my freshly DIY painted stock wheels in a little while. I just saw these tires in person yesterday - I dunno who said 'tires ain't purty', but he's obviously never seen these!! Lol.

Just a little tease - pics when I get'em!!

I'm gonna miss the FAT 325/60/18's - but I REALLY like these tires!

Putting 1000 miles on them tomorow - maybe towing my new 33' toy hauler back!

Nah, just rattle-can. Rustoleum 'wheel paint'. If I had any idea they'd look as good as they do, I would have smoothed them out some more... After scrubbing clean with steel wool and green scrubbies, I sanded them down and sprayed a coat of black primer, then a couple coats of wheel paint. Under $20 with all materials.

I wanted to powder coat them, but time didn't allow. We'll see how this holds up!

Wow! you did a good job on those wheels, they look great!! I am seriously considering doing that, but dont know how it would look on my color combo. What color was the paint?
