HOLY S!%T Scared Lost all Throttle almost is a Wreck

When driving exiting the highway I lost all throttle a few weeks back. I put it in Neutral turned off and refired while coasting and everything was fine. It seems to be getting worse, while driving I lose my pedal and it comes back after 10 second or so.

Any ideas?
DO I need to replace the throttle pedal assembly?
How long does it take to replace?

Your truck doesn't cut off, just the throttle stops working?

bad pedal assm. mines done it twice now. some folks have had luck cleaning out the switch with contact cleaner. I've had to replace the pedal. it gets real exciting when you're pulling a long grade with a 18K 5th wheel and go for a down shift and the pedal dies! slap it up and down with foot and it will come back and then die again at the least opportune moment!

i would say the sensor on the pedal. you can just buy it and not assembly. search TPS and see if you can find the right up on it.

only on the early models can you just replace the switch. later models require a new pedal assm.

Well, you won't be paying a ton for a pedal assembly, the non-adj's are alot cheaper.

On my 99 I replaced only the TPS. See this LINK. 2000 could be the same.

It could also be IVS (Idle Validation Switch) dirty or bad contacts.

Hit up the local junkyard and get a few for 5 bucks and swap out your TPS.
