CODE P0308

Started as I was warming up the truck,a slight vibration/shudder.First thing that came to mind was F150Torqued words of wisdom that it might come back,I had a p0301 before.Had no CEL,so decided to drive it to see if it got worse.Turned onto the main road and on came the CEL.Pulled into my FORD dealer, told him about my problem.CODE P0308 missfire on #8cylinder was the read out,COP was done and the plug.40 min of labour.Shes even quieter than when #1 got changed. Many thanks to F150Torqued and Steve(ill) for their previous comments.Knowing what to expect and knowing the issues makes it less aggravating!

Well, @tc829, its me again! Hi . I snooped around a bit and see that you fairly recently acquired your '06 F150. And I see it has enough mileage (or 'killometerage - however I would say that - lol 220000kms), that plugs have likely all been changed somewhere before, but perhaps not by you. I'm assuming it's a 5.4L as you've said it "ticks"! (and I know all about that). I concluded you may be nearing and headed for the infamous 5.4L spark plug debunkle for YOUR first time (broken spark plugs and chasing random misfires and COP's around in circles). The design of the triton engine, heads, cams and everything demands the ignition system be in tip top shape to consistently fire under all conditions.

You _MAY_ be nearing the time for a new set of Motocraft 515's and a real good, clean, meticulous, once over on the complete ignition system. If you decide to, there are some write-ups I would like to recommend you read first.

Here's hoping your good Christmas holds throughout the year!

Thanks!Yes she has the 5.4 and the plugs are 2yrs old with around 10000miles on them. The ticking sound is a lot less, could the plug in #8 have been cracked or not seated properly causing the tick? The cop looked faded with rust marks near the boot. The others look a lot better.Shes so quiet that I can go to a drive thru and not sound like an old schoolbus!
