truck running rough- things to check
Hello
my 02' PSD with 150k on the clock was running fine this morning while out and about, then it started to "shudder" like it wasn't firing on all 8. i got my foot off the accelerator, coasted a bit and resumed driving. A 1/2 mile later it started to shudder real hard and it seemed to have no power then the 'check engine' light came on. It idled fine and i limped back home with no power. my truck is sitting in the driveway now and i was wondering if there is anything i can look for before i have to take it in. i don't have an AE to test with so it would probably be a site inspection with a multi-meter to test. there is no fluid leaks and everything looks fine. i'm going out to check the fuses now, just to make sure.
i haven't had any problems with my truck in over the 6 years i've owned her, and i've always kept up on maintenance. i did notice that it started to run rough after i filled up and put in 16oz of DK (every 3rd tank or so i put in some DK). i could be bad fuel.
anybody got any ideas?
thanks in advance!

another problem i was having before this was i could smell diesel coming through the heater. i wasnt making coolant, so i kinda eliminated (hoping actually...) that the injector cups were not the issue. i talked to one of my diesel buddies in town and he said that i probably needed was my fuel bowl or drain valve rebuild. i see that Guzzle has a rebuild kit for the drain valve on back order, i guess i put in an order for new o rings and see if that doesnt help the smell.

did the drivers side today. the connector was a little loose and i but a quarter in there to tighten things up. it was getting a bit cold, so i'll do the passenger side tomorrow. not to hard to get down in there, just wish the weather was warmer and not so windy...
i checked the rocker arm and injector hold down bolts with the torque wrench and they were good and tight.
truck started right up and ran with no 'check engine' light. i'll get the passenger side done tomorrow, button everything up and get back on the road and see what happens.
the passenger side looks like a bit more digging than the drivers side valve cover, but i think if i go in through the wheel well that should help out a bit.
thanks for the help.
