I just refinished my Flowtech shortys. Wanted to do something different and original. Stripped them, glass beaded and Black Nickel Plated them at work today. Not paint...not chrome...not ceramic.
How durable will the plating be through all the heat/cool cycles?
They look great, interested to see how it holds up.
They will hold up just fine. The plating will not be effected other than oxidation and slight tarnishing. If anything, the heat will actually bake the phosphorous nickel coating on, prolonging the life on the finish. Technically...heat treating. It will not crack nor burn off as the melting point is beyond what a motor can produce.

Reason: spelling
Like to see what they look like after a month or so- mine turned white at the elbows (standard powder coating though)....
At 400 degrees, powder coating burns off. Not highly recommended on exhaust components, especially your headers. Plating is metal deposition. With anything that undergoes 600 degrees...it tarnishes. In my case...it's already black. It'll probably pick up a bluish/green hue to it but it will stay black. I did it out of interest...and also its different from the traditional. However....they have come out with "Black Chrome" now. STANELY is now producing their tools in this finish......they are F***ing sweet!!!!!!!!
