9.75 rear end 3.73 posi clutch pack HELP!

Hi,
I have an 04 f150 lariat with the 9.75 rear end with 3.73 gears. The clutch pack has been replaced twice under warranty and is now going out again and my warranty is up. the truck only has 83k on it. this is too much replacemtent of these clutches! I want to try somthing aftermarket as the oem replacements have been no good to me... does anyone know where to get these? THANKS!
Jay

Hi there and welcome to FTE.

I believe that the Detroit TrueTrac will work for our trucks:
Detroit Truetrac Differentials
Part #913A477 according to their application guide.

Most dealers will warranty their warranty repairs for a period of time......you might check on that as well. I believe that Ford has a 1 year warranty on repairs?????

If not, I would go with MCDavis' idea

I just put the Detroit Truetrac in my truck 2 weeks ago because the clutch packs were going out on mine. This is a limited slip unit but has no clutches to wear! You can replace the stock LS unit with an aftermarket one that still has clutches and eventually they will wear out too. I think the Truetrac unit is comparable in price to the factory stuff and should last you for the life of the vehicle.

i have been running a TrueTrac for going on 3 years. It is gear driven and will go for years. Head and shoulders above any clutch type LS. It has a 3.5 to 1 bias and the only thing that will top it is a full locker. However, lockers don't have the street manners that LS have. Every one who goes to the TrueTrac seems to love it, me included.

A locker or a selectable locker? A true locker has the potential to be a bear on the street. It'll chirp the inside tire on nearly every lower speed turn. Just my $.02 but I'd go with the TrueTrac unless you do a lot of off roading.

Go on ebay, you will usually find several shops advertising with competative prices.
