Think I finally killed my motor

Well, I knew the motor wasnt going to last long but didnt really expect it to go so soon. Drove it around the block the other day because the kids wanted to ride in Daddy's Loud Truck. lol. Thankfully we had just got back in the driveway and put it in park when all of the sudden it sounded like something broke inside the motor, really loud knocking and sever vibration. Pretty sure it was a rod bearing or something with the crank. Now the big question. Do I look into maybe pulling and rebuilding, or save up a little and drop in a new replacement motor that has a warranty??? What do you guys think?

that's the same thing I'm going through. add up the parts, and the machine shop cost, then add in your labor, and you come up with a price that is very close to what they want for a recon, with a warranty. It also depends on your skill level, of how much you can do, if the machine shop has to assemble the long block, the price rises even more.If you want to keep the numbers matching from the motor to the truck, you would have to rebuild yours. I would doubt that you are worried about that, it's not a factory stock cobra, or something like that. You also have the option of going high proformance, either by crate motor, or doing the work yourself. I have decided to go with the rebuild, and the warranty, out and back in in 1 day.{ I hope }

Yea I seriously going with a new motor. I'd like to be able to pull it and drop a new one in myself but dont have the skills or equip to do it. Know some people who do. Just gonna have to save up now for the cost of a new one. Def. want to stick with the 351.
