302 EFI Rebuild questions

1991 f-150 302 windsor EFI. How much extra or how much power will i restore to my motor if i get forged pistons new rings an hone the cylnders. I need to re-build it an also can i take my throttle body off an exchange it with a 351 or a 460. an have the bolt wholes line up. It'd be for more induction . i figured i might as well get better parts if there is any other parts i should change while i rebuild it for extra power let me no. An I am getting new rocker arms an push rods as well what kind i dunno someone said alumnuim. but id like more advice

Nothing worth talking about. Forged pistons are a complete waste of money unless you plan on hitting it with N2O or a blower, so spend your $$ on a better cam instead. The Comp 31-255-5 is a pretty nice upgrade from the stock piece that will produce healthy power gains. And don't waste your time changing the throttlebody either.. it flows enough for 400hp, or the rocker arms or pushrods unless they are worn.. but they shouldn't be. The cam and exhaust are the restrictions on this motor, put your focus on those parts and you'll see impressive gains without changing anything else. You should get a cam + lifter kit and a new timing set when you do this.

Not sure, but likely your motor had forged pistons from the factory. They changed over sometime late 80's. Likely stock replacement are forged, depending on where you get them from. Won't make more power themselves, just stronger for making more power.

Heads are the big restriction on these motors. Grind the bump out of the exhaust side, clean up the intake side. You'd be surprised on the amount of available power with just simple hand work. Get some shorty headers and better exhaust.

Unless the rockers/pushrods are hurt, don't bother. If you have the money, some roller tip rockers are a nice upgrade, but not mandatory.

If you plan on rebuilding the whole thing my as well get some flat top pistons if running NA and deck the block for some more compression, easy power right there. But like the other guys said heads and cam. Depending on your budget maybe performance heads. But with adding more power what do ya wanna do for tuning guessing you have speed density and doesn't tune so well, you wanting to switch to maf? Carb?

The only 5.0 to get forged pistons was the '87-92 HO. This motor has the potential to make in the neighborhood of 275hp/350tq with just a cam and a full exhaust system. Heads would certainly help but it's pretty easy to exceed the limits of stock injectors and SD EFI system(300+hp) so you have to choose wisely or it gets real expensive quickly.

I no some of them after 6 months they'll go bad an you'll loose alot mpg's. im trying to avoid thatI Dont wanta carb but mass airflow would that help alot as far as throttle respone an effiecny. An how exactly do i switch to it. I looked up that cam Pretty in exspenive. An it will go in to a stock motor without changing the lift on my lifters? I appriate the help

Unless you need to bore the block no real need to get different pistons. I am not sure of your budget or hp range you want. The real HP/TQ gains are in the cam and the heads. I know guys making 250-260rwhp with just larger valves in stock E7 heads. With some bowl work you can gain another 15+ easy. Fast - Cheap - Reliable , pick 2! LOL

i got about 1500 for my budget not alot but i know if i buy the right parts i will gain a substantial amount of horsepower. i just dont wanta end up uprgading my parts without good advice cuz some times you can upgrade to a good brand or expensive part an loose power because you dont have all the needed parts to get the power out of what you just installed an i dont want that
