Dually rim question -
Update - truck had back shake at higher speed when applying brakes. No wonder - back calipers both sides frozen, and parts of the rotor had rotted away, leaving about 1" of brake surface.....needless to say, with that repaired, the truck still had a shake, but at least now I could feel the pedal.....
So the front rotors were taking the brunt of the braking for about a year.....brand new front rotors last year....they'll get turned tomorrow.
Found the clunking in the front end....although the sway bar "appeared" ok, the link bushings were shot. My friends at Moog helped there.
NOW:
I need a wider front tire (rim and tire) for summer beach pulling. I have a 34' trailer that we pull on the ocean here on the east end of Long Island. The truck pulled just fine last year; trailer about 10K loaded with fresh water, generator, firewood, enough sand toys that would make Walmart take notice, but I'd like to leave some air inside the tire (I have to go down to 15psi).
With the leaf springs I know I have turning radius issues. What is t he widest rim/tire combo I can get away with (I can order a new spacer) and not rub the springs? Looking for stock height tires. I just replaced the front wheel bearings last year too, ouch. They should be gold plated.
Thanks in advance for your help. DVW
