A problem with living in a picturesque town is the lack of shopping and medical. Not that I’d like a Wal-Mart here but I have to go 25 miles to the nearest Home Depot.
Of course, you guys in BC and Alberta have a beautiful countryside as well. It took me forever to drive the “ice highway” as I was stopping at every turn to take pictures.
Most all of the snow melted by noon; that’s enough time to take in the beauty/contrast but minus the safety and cleanup issues. Below is a picture of my house; it’s behind the Mesquite trees. I spent all afternoon cutting up limbs that broke due to the weight of the snow.

We had a really big snow around Christmas, I was busily running around knocking snow off the pine tree branches before they snapped. I'm surprised the damage it did to native plants like chamisa and sage, you'd think they would be able to take it, but I fear most of them are goners. They're the bulk of my "landscaping", too.
