I'm a new member but since I bought a 1965 F100 a few months ago have found myself looking for more information here. A few days ago I was poking around behind the seat and found a small black metal tag wrapped around the seat springs. Unwrapping it like a prize and looking at it now I can make out:
STUBNITZ-VINC

Any idea what this is or what it even refers to?
Thanks for your time, I'm really curious to find out.

Welcome to FTE
This metal tag is the the seat's "buck tag." These were installed by the manufacturer of the seat (Stubnitz), for use by assembly line workers.
When trucks were coming down the line, and the seat was the next thing to be installed, workers refered to the tags to make sure the correct upholstered seat was installed in a specific truck to match its build sheet order.
