Hahah I swear to god that is so funny. It extends to even FTE. The funniest thing in the world. I was out changing rail with a few railroad guys. The 40ft section of rail came in and there were 5 guys there. At the same time all 5 of them looked at each other and at me and said "Thats what she said" after I said wow thats huge.

How slow is slow?

Not necessarily. The figure I gave you was just a general figure as I don't know your gearing etc. I know my Ford 460 has 4.10 in the front and rear with a 4spd t-19 transmission. I can tow a trailer (not real heavy fewk pounds). If I hit a long hit and am going pretty good 65-70 I maintain about 50-55 on the hills. In general if you can keep up and go faster a tag than semis you will be good. Personally I would get a smaller trailer before a new truck.

Smaller trailer would be more ideal...I was just under the impression that the weight for most average size 20 something foot trailers is 4-6k lbs. Finding a lighter trailer would be ideal.

I'd have to with that size b/c I will be living in it for a six month job.

Personally, I would get a real small fifth wheel. One of those like 10 foot pull behinds (more of a trailer than a fifth wheel) would be ideal. Heck even a bed camper. Have you thought about living in your pickup and then renting a motel every 3rd day or so to get showered up and have a nice bed? I am going to be doing that during my 60 day official training period with the rail road.

Not really an option. I'm working IN a campground with the wife.

The small fifthwheel might work

I think if you're gonna live in it you may as well go big. but if you can deal with smaller living space to each his own I guess. I do know that a 20 ft or so trailer can get small fast when you're living in it hahaha

Dump a 351W in there. Is your truck carb or FI? If its carb it would be easy to do and that would give you the extra grunt you need to pull it probably. I routinely pull loads of scrap that weigh over that but that doesnt take the wind resistance into account.
