Youtube, IDI Rally: Drag racing IDI's

I found a cool youtube video while IDI-searching during lunch today. Looks like it's from the IDI Rally that was mentioned last Summer. Looks like fun! After I get the '65 IDI put together I would love to attend if I have the funds! Are any of these trucks owned by members here? I really like the truck in the 3rd race, on the closer side of the track. Looks like a shortbed flareside! Similar to what I'm planning with my '65 except I'll have stacks. Anyway, here's for viewing pleasure! YouTube - Drag Racing 2010 IDI Rally

Why were they going so slow? They must not have had turbos on them 'cause I could have cooked every one of those trucks easy. The only one that seemed to be fast was the last bright red one, the rest must have been n/a.

That red truck in the last race sounded like a Cummins...but I did hear the turbos on the other trucks, just not very loud

you wouldn't have held a candle next to that bright red one.sorry.
she's fast cus it looks like Darren Tosh's truck with a cummins.likely was cus she sure didn't sound navi idi to me.
it was just a fun get together.the idi truck lining up against him didn't have any plans on beating him im sure.

The 2 first "slow trucks" are both modified turbo trucks....

It's Mel and Heath from oilburners.

I listened to video very low the first time when I posted but even after I turned the volume up I still don't hear the turbos - even on the cummins (probably my speakers). The bright red one would definitely beat me if he had a built up cummins in it, but if the cummins was stock, I woulda had a good chance. A banks turbo IDI is more powerful than a stock cummins up until about 2004. But any cummins owner in his right mind wouldn't leave one stock, they are so cheap to build up its stupid not to.

Look at the torque numbers on a 2004 cummins, its in the mid 400's. A banks turbod IDI has higher HP and torque.

a turboed idi can easily take down a stock 90's cummins. My idi can just barely get a jump off the line but ill stay neck and neck with them all day if they are stock. When they do the 90hp fuel mod, yeah its a different story. Hence the reason i would repower with a 6bt.

I was wrong, A banks IDI is more powerful than a cummins up until the 24 valve switched over to a high output ISB botch pump in 2001.

5.9L Cummins 24v ISB Specs

5.9L Cummins 12v Specs

yeah now i can believe that that 24v was a whole new animal from about 2000.5 and up especially when they went to a common rail. Id take a 12v though haha

Yeah, I'd take a 12V over a 24V any day. So simple and cheap to make power.
