Terminals off and keys wont open door locks on 97 Expedition

Hi ..Ive used this forum in the past with good results ..so here's my problem ..my 97 Expedition had a water intrusion problem via the PCM plug and it made the theft light blink and a no start issue. Well we thought it was fixed but ...3 months later after no problems ..we washed it and it happened again this time there is no visible water intrusion on the PCM ,so we apparently didn't fix it after all to begin with ..but my problem is we took the terminals off ,with the hopes it will start after it drys out ,and it's in a parking lot near the car wash and it's locked. With the terminals off the door remote is not working of course , but the keys wont open it either. We have 2 because we first thought is was a key chip problem, so we know that key unlocked the door 3 months ago, because we checked it.The theft system doesn't have any thing to do with the door locks on this model does it? Any ideas ? Froze up locks seems unlikely on the doors and hatch . Any idea maybe how to open the hood latch somehow or we thought remove the wheel well cover and try to put the terminals back on ..maybe a slim Jim ,cause locksmiths are expensive .Just can't figure why the keys won't unlock it! It doesn't make sense.Any help will be appreciated .

Locks that don't get used much due to keyless entry systems tend to develop deposits in them. This was the case with all of the locks on my Expedition when I first got it. Spray some WD-40 into the keyholes and work the key in and out repeatedly. You might get lucky and free up the wafers inside the lock which will allow the key to open it.

Thanks ..I think that is the problem ..We ended up taking the wheel well cover thing off and connecting the terminal ..it worked, but started and shut off again . Had it towed and $80 later, rolled it off the wrecker..and it started, must have dried out on the ride .Figures.One step forward 2 steps backGotta pinpoint the water intrusion ..again ..lol..or get triple A. ..because I just can't bring myself to part with it ..The wrecker offered to buy it ..but ,I'm not selling ..not yet. Thanks Again

Could also switch to 21st century insurance...free roadside assistance with all policies, that was the main selling point for me
