Looks like I will be sending mine in next week to upgrade. Sounds like it is worth the cost, compared to the injectors.

I bought mine less than 6 months ago. It will not do the balance test. When I click initiate it doesn't do anything.

Does this mean I need to purchase a new upgrade for something less than 6 months old? That's BS!

So what is the procedure? I send in my old connector and they make it work with the latest software?

It's not BS
Your doing something wrong, what version of the software do you have

you don't need the latest version and the dongle to do the PB test

Running version 9.1.1
Just submitted a request for version 10, but apparently they have to send a USB key to do the software update.

How come I can't turn injectors on and off? Whenever I click on an injector to turn it off I get an error. Can't remeber what the error says for sure but I get it everytime. Have even uninstalled and reinstalled the software twice.

Well if your going to jump in and ask all that ,, you need to respond with the same info asked of the OP
Like version of software and always check for codes first

Do you have this "upgraded connector".
Mine says "ScanTool OBD-II Connector" on it

What is the difference between the standard connector which I think most people have and the new connector?

If you are using the same connector as me maybe I am doing something wrong. Does the truck need to be in neutral or drive, or any other pre-requisites?

You have the old connector and it won't work with the newer software. I just found this out and will be updating my connector. Call AE if you have any questions, they are great to deal with.

I've only had it for a couple months. It's version 10.0.2.

I've even tried two different laptops.

What options are you selecting at the beginning when the software is connecting to the vehicle? You should be selecting the year, then the model should be "6.0L Powerstroke", or something like that, then the system is "Enhanced Powerstroke CAN."

Or something similar. I don't have it in front of me right now to be exact.

Yeah, I have the 'Enhanced Powerstroke CAN' enabled. One time I got the injectors to turn off but I only got 3 of them done then it started giving me the error again.

So it sounds like some of you are able to do this test with a standard adapter?
Do all of your connectors say Pro-Line on them?

Broke down and ordered the upgrade. A little disappointed because I thought getting the connector and the Ford enhanced package would work with any Ford.

According to AE:
"The standard connector is not capable of doing the power balance or 2 way communication..."
