ford trucks especially the older trucks have a classic problem the wires that go from the cab to the doors break cause of the opening and closing of the doors it is like bending a piece of metal so many time eventually they break i just repaired 6 wires in the drivers door cause they were broken and the unlock wasnt working correctly it would work when it was closed but open it wont it is a pia to do the wires i loosened the harness in the door to give it some slack so i could splice the wires back together between the door and cab

So this could be as easy as some wire repair? It makes sense about the opening and closing of the doors. Come to think of it, the rear passenger side window is a little problematic at times and needs the door to be slammed to operate. Any ideas on how to get the door open to work on those wires?

Popping the door panel gently without fracturing it is going to be key. I know the seat plays being a problem, so thats where taking time to finesse it out is going to help.. Get that door panel off, you can reach the door locking mech inside and manually open it, then work on the wiring gremlin!

I had the same issue with the rear passenger door on my truck hen I got it. To top things off the lock pin (the little plastic cap that sticks out the top of the door) was missing and the rod had fallen back down inside the door. I was able to remove the door panel from the inside and unlock the door.
Once I got the door opened, I was able to fix everything and ended up replacing the plastic lock pin with a metal one I got from Autozone. After lubricating the mechanism and working the lock for a while it unlocks and re-locks just fine now with the power lock, and if it ever fails again I now have a longer lock pin there that I can actually use to manually unlock the door. I think the lock pins I got were like $6 for tow of them. Not bad so I replaced the front two as well.
The stock lock pins are so short and hard to grip that they are practically worthless anyway.

Lol, My rear drivers door, you have to hit the lock button 6 or 7 times to get it to work and same with unlocking it. The passenger rear is unlocked and doesnt lock at all. Oh and the drivers side rear window motor just runs, window doesnt move at all. Got some rear door work ahead of me. lol.

Yeah, I've got some ahead of me as well. The window goes down on its own, but you have to push it up manually while pressing the button to close it. My son put it down the other day in the 20 degree weather and I had to get out and go around to put it back up. I have to remember to keep the window lock turned on!
