Ford Engine Question - 460 and C6 transmission

I have a quick question. I have a 460 Ford engine and C6 transmission. I was looking at possibly putting this in a GMC 1959 Truck. Has anybody done this before? If so can you tell me if there are certain engine mounts or modifications that may be needed? I know this is not a Chevy or GMC forum, but I thought I would pick your brains from the Engine and transmission side.

I have a 460/c6 in my ford truck.. I made the motor mounts, and I would expect you will have to do the same.

the tranny mount is a rubber pad with studs on one side and slots for bolts on the other.. you can mount that to anything..

I'm sure someone, somewhere has done it, but they'd never admit it. It's ok to put chev engines into anything, but the other way around is never allowed.

I agree with Sam in that an engine swap is an engine swap. I know there's plenty of room in the Gimmy engine compartment, so it's just going to be a matter of finding the sweet spot and making your mounts to fit, just like you would with anything. Go for it, and be proud!

I would approve of this swap - especially if you would post about it in the many C***y/GMC
forums.

Definitely! Be sure to post links here to those threads, too. We all need a good laugh. My only suggestion would be to use a 352 air cleaner decal. That'll really mess with them. lol

Don't know if you are running the stock suspension or not. If you are check out the Trans-Dapt universal engine mount crossmember part # 9313.

You can check it out here: Trans Dapt Performance Products - Universal Crossmembers Without Pads

You can also get it thru summit racing.

They also sell the universal type transmission crossmembers.

If your bay is empty a pic of the proposed new home would be helpful for those of us willing to photo shop some locations for mounts.
